The Gathering Place 1 Page Business Plan

Overview

The Gathering Place has a clear business objective to develop, produce, promote and distribute soup, sandwich, doughnuts, baked goods, and coffee products. These products are currently in the developmental stage, however, a focus has been places upon perceived customer concerns and associated opportunities.

The Business Objectives

When as a key component of our growth strategy we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to acquire new customers. Customer acquisition is considered to be the critical activity and we are seeking to grow the number of customers. We understand that customer growth could be at the expense of profitability, and that there is a cost associated with customer acquisition. Our long term objective is to build a clear customer acquisition process.

The Customer

The Gathering Place has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. Through a customer discovery process, we have validated the key customer problem as individuals needing a place where they can gather and not feel they are in the way but a place designed for them to linger and enjoy life. This is a critical issue for our selected target market of families and retiredees.

The Value Proposition

The Gathering Place is uniquely positioned to deliver value to families and retiredees. "The Gathering Place will provide a welcoming environment for people to gather and enjoy baked goods." In order to deliver on this value proposition, we provide a service not already offered by the community, including a rentable space for family events and other social gatherings. This capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.

Competitors

We have a number of competitors within the soup, sandwich, doughnuts, baked goods, and coffee market. We consider our key competitors to be: restaurants and coffee shops, however, no other establishment provides our exact services. Our understanding of these competitors has been used to refine our strategy and value proposition. We believe that we can compete effectively with other restaurants and coffee shops by providing a bakery with fresh donuts (an other products) and a Rental space for large family gatherings and other community activities.

Key Strategies

Over the next 6 months our focus will be to establish a place for people to gather and share life's moments by providing an atmosphere that people want to gather in. This task will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to increase products offered, such as organic, glutton-free, and sugar free products. Expand soup and sandwich selections and including french pastries. These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.

Milestones

Measurement of the successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by measurable development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 2 years are: Building a rentable space that is rented at least 25 weekends a year, developing at least 4 social events for the community to gather a year, and the need to increase the number of products made and sold to the community.
