When as a key component of our growth strategy we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to improve the quality of our provision for all learners. Enhancing the quality of our provision is considered to be the critical activity and we develop the curriculum. We understand that merger and diversifying our curriculum portfolio to meet the Outcome Agreement targets could be at the expense of quality. Our long term objective is to create, develop and continually evaluate quality enhancement.
The Customer
Glasgow Kelvin College- Quality Enhancement self-evaluation strategy has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our learners. Through a structured consultation process, we have validated the key learner issue as the consistent learning experience across Glasgow Kelvin, which requires evaluation of the quality of our provision in all aspects of the colleges work. This is a critical issue for our learners, local/national employers and the community in which we are located.
The Value Proposition
Glasgow Kelvin College- Quality Enhancement is uniquely positioned to deliver value to learners local/national employers and the community in which we are located.. "Glasgow Kelvin College- Quality Enhancement self-evaluation method will provide a high-quality learning experience tailored to the learner which supports progression and success." In order to be deliver on this value proposition, with our unique spread of learning centres across the community, coupled with our whole college approach to self-evaluation which promotes the learner voice and choice ensures that we, more than any other college, meet the priorities of the regional outcome agreement. This self-evaluation capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.
Competitors
We have a number of competitors within the Further Education College market. We consider our key competitors to be: City of Glasgow College, Clyde College. Our understanding of these competitors has been used to refine our strategy and value proposition. We believe that we can compete effectively with City of Glasgow College, Clyde College by promoting a consistent and high-quality learning experience and continually evaluating our practice, especially in our highly successful distributed learning centres in the heart of our communities .
Key Strategies
Over the next 6 months our focus will be to develop a high-quality culture and further enhance the growing reputation of the college. This task will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to embed and evaluate a systematic approach to quality enhancement, prepare the college for its first Education Scotland Review and work with all stakeholders to promote partnership working, enterprise and quality. These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall quality enhancement goal as outlined above.
Milestones
Measurement of the successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by measurable development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 2 years are: Launch and develop culture of self-evaluation, collaboratively enhance quality throughout the college and achieve an effective grading in our first full college Education Scotland Review
