Overview
SHAD has a clear business objective to develop Environmental Assessments and Testing services. These services have been developed over 6 years with a core focus on addressing the key customer problem and associated opportunities.
The Business Objectives
When as a key component of our growth strategy we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key short term business objective is to launch a new product. Whilst our existing services have been useful for providing solutions to the customer problem, new products are required to fully capitalise on our business potential. Our growth path is clearly oriented around the addition of new services, the development of these new products and the subsequent marketing of these. It is understood that costs will be associated with product development and marketing and these have been allowed for in our budget.
The Customer
SHAD has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. Through a structured customer discovery process, we have validated the key customer problem as requiring environmental ratings for building to ensure sustainable construction, design, and occupation. This is a critical issue and regulatory requirement for our selected target market of Architects and Developers.
The Value Proposition
SHAD is uniquely positioned to deliver value to Architects and Developers. "SHAD will provide environmental ratings for developments, ensuring sustainable design and construction." In order to deliver on this value proposition, we have extensive experience in design and construction, with additional training and education in sustainable design, providing a full understanding of the development process, and ensures best practice and solutions at every stage. This capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.
Competitors
We have a number of competitors within the Environmental Assessments and Testing market. We consider our key competitor to be: Energist. Our understanding of this competitor has been used to refine our strategy and value proposition. We believe that we can compete effectively with Energist with a wider range of experience. With experience on site, and within the Architectural profession, we can provide solutions with a construction and architectural background as well as environmental.
Key Strategies
Over the next 6 months our focus will be to develop an iPhone app to carry out an assessment. This app will promote our further services to then acquire new customers. This task will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to train with BRE to provide new services including BREEAM Assessments and Air Pressure Testing. These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.
Milestones
Measurement of the successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by measurable development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 2 years are: Obtain 100 customers Move to office accommodation Employ 4 members of staff
