Overview

Keri theRED has a clear business objective to develop, produce, promote and distribute custom professional nail products, services, and education on a large scale. These products and services have been developed over 10 years with a core focus on addressing the absence of quality nail care in the nail industry and all associated opportunities.

The Business Objectives

When as a key component of our growth strategy we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to nurture our local nail industry and raise standards in our area. Distributing education to clients and professionals in our area as well as acquiring new clients is considered to be the critical activity and we are seeking to grow the number of contacts and clients to do so. We understand that growth could be at the expense of profitability, and that there is a cost associated with customer acquisition. Our long term objective is to build a clear and positive reputation in the industry as well as mentoring up and coming artists.

The Customer

Keri theRED has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. Through a structured customer discovery process, we have validated the key customer problem as the nail industry is inundated with low quality nail salons with dangerous and unethical practices. These shops sacrifice quality for cheapness and many clients don't realize they have another option. This is a critical issue for our selected target market of women ages 25-70 in middle and upper income brackets.

The Value Proposition

Keri theRED is uniquely positioned to deliver value to women ages 25-70. "Keri theRED will I provide services that surpass the clients needs and wants while mentoring other stylists to do the same." In order to be deliver on this value proposition, I am known for my ability to bring new techniques and trends to my clients before anyone else in our area. I also do mounds of research on products before I use them on clients to ensure I know the proper and ethical way of applying them. This also goes for any design technique. This capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of my competitive advantage.

Competitors

I have a number of competitors within the nail products and services market. I consider my key competitors to be: larger salons and spas. My understanding of these competitors has been used to refine my strategy and value proposition. I believe that I can compete effectively with larger salons and spas because most nail departments in our local salons and spas are not created or managed by qualified passionate nail stylists. This makes them depend on sales reps when picking products & services to provide their clients and sales reps don't usually have a knowledge in nails either. These salons and spas are also not educated or willing enough to provide proper training to their employees resulting in poor quality work. Fast is also valued over quality, but at a higher price then walkin type nail salons.


Key Strategies

Over the next 6 months my focus will be to take as much continuing education as possible and grow my skills in nail extensions. This task will be undertaken in the context of my broader strategy to offer continuing education either on a private and/or corporate level. These strategies are a tactical implementation of my overall business goal as outlined above.

Milestones

Measurement of the successful implementation of my strategies will be governed by measurable development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 2 years are: Begin teaching salon business as well as educate nail professionals. Become a frequent member to glam squads associated with fashion design and photography. Hire and train new professionals in the correct way to conduct business in the nail industry.
