Overview
Azabu Academy has a clear business objective to develop, market and teach Business English courses. These training courses have been developed over the past 4 years with a core focus on addressing the key customer problem: inability to communicate smoothly & spontaneously in business situations.
The Business Objectives
A key component of our growth strategy is to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to acquire new clients. Client acquisition is the critical activity, and we are seeking to fine-tune our courses to make a relevant and compelling sales proposition. We understand that customer growth could be at the expense of profitability, and that there is a cost associated with customer acquisition. Our long term objective is to build a clear customer acquisition process.
The Customer
Azabu Academy has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. Through discussions with students, we have identified the key client problem as inadequate communicative English ability for global business. This is a critical issue for our selected target market of HR & international divisions.
The Value Proposition
Azabu Academy is uniquely positioned to deliver value to HR & international divisions. "Azabu Academy will provide training, skills and confidence to use English confidently in business situations." In order to deliver on this value proposition, we combine academic EFL methodology and real business scenarios, with practical focus and customized content application for each corporate client . This capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.
Competitors
We have a number of competitors within the Business English training market. We consider our key competitors to be: Berlitz, British council, mba-center.net, CoCo, DILA. Our understanding of these competitors has been used to refine our strategy and value proposition. We believe that we can compete effectively by:
1) all content customized for client context & business situation
2) emphasis on "real" communication
3) employing only highly qualified instructors (MA, industry experience, well-informed on broad social and business developments)
Key Strategies
Over the next 6 months our focus will be to develop 3 core services:
1) 10-hour presentation skills course
2) 20-hour listening & speaking course
3) executive 1-on-1 tutorial series
…and hire a Japanese sales manager.
These tasks will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to provide the best training courses in Tokyo. These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.
Milestones
Measurement of successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 6 months are:
2015-1: website up and running (edit-able!)
2015-3: business partner
2015-2: first AzA individual sign-up course begins
2015-4: first b2b contract (client-site)
