Overview
RAF Telemark aims to promote Telemark skiing instruction, race training and adventurous ski touring services. These services have been developed over 18 months with a core focus on addressing the key customer problem and associated opportunities.
The Business Objectives
When as a key component of our growth strategy we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to acquire new customers. Customer acquisition is considered to be the critical activity and we are seeking to grow the number of customers. We understand that customer growth could be at the expense of profitability, and that there is a cost associated with customer acquisition. Our long term objective is to build a clear customer acquisition process.
The Customer
RAF Telemark has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. Through a structured customer discovery process, we have validated the key customer problem as offering an opportunity to do something different in an Alpine skiing environment. This is a critical issue for our selected target market of RAF alpine skiers.
The Value Proposition
RAF Telemark is uniquely positioned to deliver value to RAF alpine skiers. "RAF Telemark provides a new challenge in skiing and access superb race coaching, ski touring and a fun Group of people to ski with." In order to be deliver on this value proposition, we are the only and best way to learn to Telemark in the RAF, we offer a great chance to race and have fun Telemarking. This capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.
Competitors
We have a number of competitors within the Telemark skiing instruction, race training and adventurous ski touring market. We consider our key competitors to be: the opportunity to for a busy RAF work force to get time for sport and when they do convincing them that Telemarking is better than Alpine skiing. Our understanding of these factors has been used to refine our strategy and value proposition. We believe that we can compete effectively, as Telemarking offers a challenge over and above Alpine skiing particularly suited for those who feel they have plateaued, we are less well established so offer less experienced racers opportunities to race at top level; including GB racing.
Key Strategies
Over the next 6 months our focus will be to Electronic information campaign, exploiting Facebook and the Intranet, advertising through Stn Winter Sports Clubs, and promotional 'have a go' sessions at the RAF Indoor Champs and RAF Championships. This task will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to Procure professional, world class coaching . These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.
Milestones
Measurement of the successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by measurable development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 2 years are: full team participation at the GB Indoor Series, Tignes Overseas Visit, a Major AT Expedition to Southern Hemisphere and the aim of beating the Army and Navy at the ISSSC
