The Urban Youth Initiative 1 Page Business Plan

Localized missionary programs in underserved and underprivileged communities in the Denver metro area Business Plan

The Urban Youth Initiative 1 Page Business Plan

Overview

The Urban Youth Initiative has a clear business objective to develop localized missionary programs in underserved and underprivileged communities in the Denver metro area. These services have been developed over 6 months with a core focus on addressing the key community problems and associated opportunities.

The Business Objectives

As a key component of our growth strategy, we consider it critical to identify and outline our ministry objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to launch our ministry in Aurora, CO. Our growth path is clearly oriented around the addition of new products, the development of these new products and the subsequent marketing of these. It is understood that costs will be associated with product development and marketing and these have been allowed for in our budget.

The Customer

The Urban Youth Initiative has been created with a clear focus on the needs of the communities that we believe that we are called to reach. Through a structured customer discovery process, we have validated the key customer problem as 17% of Colorado's population as a whole identifies as some form of Christian. In an effort to carry out the great commission, we plan to spread the gospel to teens and families who do not currently identify as Christians. This is a critical issue for our selected target market of unchurched youth and their families.

The Value Proposition

The Urban Youth Initiative is uniquely positioned to deliver value to Unchurched youth and their families. "The Urban Youth Initiative" will Meet the natural needs of families in urban communities, and present the gospel as a means to bring about community transformation. In order to deliver on this value proposition, we are a family run organization and we partner with local aid organizations to assist families who are in need of food, clothing, housing, medical, or mental health assistance and we will build partnerships with community leaders and organizers to meet the needs of the families that we serve. This capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.

Competitors

We have a number of competitors within the Localized missionary programs in underserved and underprivileged communities in the Denver metro area market. We consider our key competitors to be: Fellowship of Christian Athletes, YoungLife, and CrossPurpose. Our understanding of these competitors has been used to refine our strategy and value proposition. We believe that we can compete effectively with Fellowship of Christian Athletes,
YoungLife, and CrossPurpose because our efforts are missionary in nature; we rely on support from organizations like the Food Bank of the Rockies, DHS, and more to find families who are in crisis, and to provide hope through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Key Strategies

Over the next 6 months, our focus will be to Launch community bible study programs and family support resources at area high schools and recreational facilities. This task will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy: to grow annual revenue in accordance with our budgeted needs, forcefully launch programs and support services into Aurora/Denver area schools and recreational facilities, and implement a day camp program by Fall 2019. These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.

Milestones

Measurement of the successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by measurable development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 2 years are: Build relationships to work with at least 3 high schools and or recreation centers by December, 2017. To build a board of directors to assist with leading the organizational needs in fundraising, marketing, and development efforts, to network with local ministries, and train a team of 15-20 volunteers by Fall, 2019.
