Overview

Krys' Kitchen has a clear business objective to develop Autism Friendly Cooking Classes. This service was developed when Co-owner Alex Blanchard was brain storming about a future for her 22 year old sister. Krys Blanchard is the other Co-owner of "Krys' Kitchen and sister to Alex Blanchard. Krys is on the Autism Spectrum and needs support from her family for some daily living skills. "i started thinking about the different areas Krys needs help in, my first thought was independent cooking skills. Krys needs help with following a recipe, being safe in the kitchen, and proper cooking methods. Another area that was a little empty in Krys' life was social interaction with peers in our community. There are not enough outlets or clubs that help support adults with disabilities after they have exited the school system at 21 years old. I felt this would be a great way to bring people of all abilities, families, teachers, or support people together to learn living skills and have a social outlet to continue to develop social and communication skills since those services disappear after the school years" -Alex Blanchard.

The Business Objectives

When as a key component of our growth strategy we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to acquire new customers and become a strong community resource for individuals with development disabilities. Customer acquisition is considered to be the critical activity and we are seeking to grow the number of customers. We understand that customer growth could be at the expense of profitability, and that there is a cost associated with customer acquisition. Our long term objective is to build a clear customer acquisition process.

The Customer

Krys' Kitchen has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. Through a structured customer discovery process, we have validated the key customer problem as affordability of the classes. This is a critical issue for our selected target market of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The Value Proposition

Krys' Kitchen is uniquely positioned to deliver value to Individuals with developmental disabilities. "Krys' Kitchen will provide life skills for people of all abilities through teaching independent cooking and communication skills." In order to deliver this valued proposition, we have a lifetime of experience with teaching and learning critical life skills. "This is my passion, this is my life. When we look back on our lives I want Krys to know she was a part of something special, a place for on going learning and lifetime friendships", Alex Blanchard "We believe we are part of the first "wave" of families learning how to support a child/sibling with Autism but with statistics like 1 in 50 children are diagnosed with Autism a year, we will see a tsunami of adults with Autism. Our world is going to change and we need to learn how to support each other. This is a unique idea that we hope inspires other people to look at our community and open their hearts and minds to build community and support each other, whatever our needs might be.

There are currently no competitors in this market. There are very few services available for this target group.


Key Strategies

Over the next 6 months our focus will be to By being involved n the Special Ed community. This task will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to Having a facility where classes are being held weekly or daily. These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.
