The Bee Workshop has a clear business objective to promote Information and bee keeping supplies products. These products have been developed over many years with a core focus on addressing the key customer problem and associated opportunities.
The Business Objectives

When as a key component of our growth strategy we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to grow revenue. Rapid revenue growth is considered the most critical and measurable business goal. At this stage of our development, we consider this to be more important than profitability growth, although both are important long term objectives.

The Customer

The Bee Workshop has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. Through a structured customer discovery process, we have validated the key customer problem as there being no local supplier of beekeeping products, these are available only by mail order; beekeepers need advice and guidance to eliminate buying the wrong products.This is a critical issue for our selected target market of Garden Centres we believe are interested in collaborating.

The Value Proposition


The Bee Workshop is uniquely positioned to deliver value to Garden Centres interested in collaborating. "The Bee Workshop where plants and bees go in petal and proboscis.." or, hand in hand. We aim to add value and promote interest with this proposition, with media interest in our falling population of bees, gardeners can do something instrumental in helping all bees with or without getting involved in beekeeping. Providing information upon the many varieties of bees, we can show how bumble bees and other pollinators will benefit all gardens as well as bringing more customers to garden centres. This capability has taken considerable time and resources to develop and forms the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.
Competitors

We have a number of competitors within the Information and bee keeping supplies market. We consider our key competitors to be: the boom in internet retail. The Bee Workshop is different in that we can work on physically demonstrating how they benefit each other and introducing and expanding upon these hobbies of gardening and beekeeping. Our understanding of these competitors has been used to refine our strategy and value proposition. We believe that we can compete effectively with The Bee Workshop showing how bees need plants and plants need bees, we can demonstrate how they benefit each other and introduce or expand these absorbing hobbies. The Bee Workshop is unique in this area, generating interest in an otherwise under represented area. Not all beekeepers wish to become members of a large organisation but still require resources and at times information, not all gardeners wish to become beekeepers but would welcome the opportunity to learn first hand about the fascinating world of our busiest insects and how to encourage them into their gardens.


Key Strategies

Over the next 6 months our focus will be to supply goods to local beekeepers, information to potential beekeepers and garden information to attract pollinators to horticulturalists. Also adding value to beekeeping by-products such as beeswax, propolis and giving demonstrations in making candles, cosmetics and polish. This task will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to sell local honey, which could be produced on site. Research into producing quality queen bees and their supply to beekeepers.These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.

Milestones

Measurement of the successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by measurable development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 2 years are: Research beekeeping equipment suppliers, advertising and obtaining 200 customers.
