METTA 1 Page Business Plan
Overview
METTA has a clear business objective to produce, distribute and promote one-of-a-kind jewelry, gifts, art objects and home decor. Jewelry repair and classes will also be available, to the public or for private events.. Our core focus as a start-up company will be to establish an inviting display stocked with inventory that will appeal to fashion and art lovers of all ages. In addition, we will need to develop a marketing strategy to build a dedicated customer base and sales volume.
The Business Objectives
As a key component of our growth strategy, we consider it critical to identify and outline our business objectives, and align these objectives with clear and measurable development milestones. Our key long term business objective is to launch a recognizable signature jewelry collection, as well as a profitable retail front and online presence. Our growth path is clearly oriented around the addition of interesting and unique new art products to the market, as well as the branding, promotion, and subsequent sale of these. It is understood that overhead costs will be associated with maintaining a retail front, though inventory is already available, through my own personal resources and on commission through MassArt alumni networking.
The Customer
METTA has been created with a clear focus on the needs of our customers. We hope to create a warm space in which people feel free to browse for themselves or others, for upscale gifts and semiprecious jewelry. Whether for conversation pieces, housewarming or occasion gifts, we hope to offer charming artisan goods that will appeal to everyone from the most fashion conscious woman to the local walk-in looking for a find. Our main challenge until a customer network has been established is financing. There will be costs associated with start up, including display cases, packaging, storefront decoration and overhead maintenance costs.
The Value Proposition
METTA is uniquely positioned to deliver value to our target market of young women, jewelry lovers, crafters, and local gift givers. With years of experience as a professional jewelry designer, and sculpture graduate, I believe I have the design eye, artistic capabilities and personal motivation to make this happen. METTA will provide handmade, custom, unique pieces you wont find anywhere else. Stocked with tons of art jewelry, one of a kind objects, charming home decor, and thoughtful additions, our store will be a feast for the eyes. Classes also available to relax, learn, and style yourself to your individual taste. In order to be deliver on this value proposition, we will capitalize on direct sales from artist to consumer to maximize profit margin. Attentive, personal service will keep people coming back. Our tastefully selected handmade luxury art goods form the cornerstone of our competitive advantage.
Competitors
We have a number of competitors within the market. We will set ourselves apart with excellent, personalized service, class offerings and a signature edgy, trendy, artsy style.
Key Strategies
Over the next 6 months our focus will be to:
-establish inventory
-set up displays
-revamp online presence
-advertise locally
-manage sales/expenses
-organize classes
These tasks will be undertaken in the context of our broader strategy to open additional storefronts and gain national recognition. These strategies are a tactical implementation of our overall business goal as outlined above.
Milestones
Measurement of the successful implementation of our strategies will be governed by development milestones. The milestones that will be achieved over the next 2 years are: establish inventory, open a storefront, cultivate a regular customer base, continue online presence and turn a considerable profit from the retail space.
